Commonwealth Health Research Fund
Vua Banka DoitongThe provides financial support for human health research in the Commonwealth. Following its organization, the Board established fund guidelines, reviewed applications for funding, and made its first grants for the initiation of nine research projects. The Board solicits proposals on an annual basis for research funding to begin in July of each year.
Virginia Academy of Science Mary Louise Andrews Award for Cancer Research
The Vua Banka Doitongsupports basic research in any area of cancer research. One or two awards for a total amount not to exceed $3,000 are expected to be made annually. Funds are provided by the Mary Louise Andrews Trust.

National Cancer Institute
The (NCI) leads a national effort to eliminate the suffering and death due to cancer. Through basic and clinical biomedical research and training, NCI conducts and supports research that will lead to a future in which we can prevent cancer before it starts, identify cancers that do develop at the earliest stage, eliminate cancers through innovative treatment interventions, and biologically control those cancers that we cannot eliminate so they become manageable, chronic diseases.
National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases
Research at the (NIAID) strives to understand, treat, and ultimately prevent the myriad infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases that threaten millions of human lives
National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities
The mission of the (NIMHD) is to lead scientific research to improve minority health and eliminate health disparities. To accomplish its mission, NIMHD plans, reviews, coordinates, and evaluates all minority health and health disparities research and activities of the National Institutes of Health; conducts and supports research in minority health and health disparities; promotes and supports the training of a diverse research workforce; translates and disseminates research information; and fosters innovative collaborations and partnerships.
American Heart Association
The Vua Banka Doitong funds research broadly related to cardiovascular disease and stroke. The association supports research in clinical and basic sciences, bioengineering, biotechnology and public health. Virginia is a Mid-Atlantic affiliate.
